Now that you recognize it, you have to decide how you’re going to do something about it.Reasoning with an abuser is tempting, but unlikely to work.One of the most familiar patterns of verbal abuse, gaslighting is a manipulative and discreet strategy that is employed systematically.It will make you question your own thoughts and emotions.It can make you apologize for things that aren’t your fault. For example: It isn’t unusual for two people to disagree or argue about the same thing more than once until they find common ground.But abusers will reignite that old argument again and again just to push your buttons, never intending to meet in the middle.But most of all, have a positive outlook on life and have the strength to move forward and create a better life for yourself.
Once you start the healing process, make sure you are surrounded by caring and supportive family members & friends.
Remember, you’re not responsible for someone else’s behavior. Start refusing to engage in unreasonable arguments.
Let them know you’ll no longer respond to or overlook verbal abuse.
They will only find faults in your reasons and will lead to more arguments.
You cannot control how they will behave and you are not responsible for it either.
